Halloween Costume Ideas | Inspiration from Your Jewelry Box

Still lost when it comes to Halloween costume ideas? Here are a few DIY costume ideas that you can easily shape around the contents of your jewelry box!

Halloween is a great time to utilize some of the items in your jewelry box that may not get to see the light of day very often. There are a lot of Halloween costume ideas that actually take very little effort, and will make throwing a costume together last minute a real breeze. Personally, I love the idea of accessories taking a costume from meh to amazing. That’s why I’m such a fan of DIY Halloween costumes. So, here are a few ideas off the top of my head that can turn a simple piece of Halloween costume jewelry into an entire costume.

1. Large Diamond Earrings

A simple costume to mimic this Halloween!

If you’ve got a pair of diamond earrings in your jewelry box, and the chances are good that you do, then you’re on the right track to becoming a diva this Halloween. There’ve been a lot of leading ladies that rocked the diamond earring style, but a couple of these stand out when it comes to Halloween costume ideas. Numero uno, is the iconic Marilyn Monroe look. Put in your earrings, grab a white halter dress and enjoy the irresistible Seven Year Itch look that won the heart of the world. You can even get crazy by adding wire beneath the dress and shaping it to look windblown. Another must have diva look that’s perfect for anyone who needs a costume like yesterday is the Elizabeth Taylor turban style. Just grab something to wrap around your head, put on a nice, slinky dress and add your bold diamond earrings for a look that will have you noticed everywhere you turn.

2. Chandelier Earrings and Necklace

This is always a beautiful combination, but when it comes to Halloween costume jewelry you can step it up a notch with some elegant chandelier earrings. Try to find a sari, or something to quickly make one, and you’re ready to go out as an Indian princess or bride. You may also want to pull out a sequin dress and go as a flapper! This is perfect if you’re Halloween party is going to include a lot of dancing.

3. Bangle Bracelets

A few pieces create a look suited for royalty!

Bangle bracelets are versatile and fun which makes them pretty ideal when you’re looking for Halloween costume ideas. These bracelets are great for any woman feeling like showing off her inner nobility this holiday. Simply grab a few bangles and put them higher up on your arm. With a white dress, waist cinch, headband and some eyeliner (okay, a lot of eyeliner) you’re ready to make your debut as Cleopatra! You could also swap out the clothes a little with a toga and golden ribbon around the waist to become the mesmerizing Athena. Not too bad going for a few bracelets you bought to wear to work, eh?

4. Pearl Strands

Pearls can make you look refined and classy, so go with it. Gather as many pearls as you have in the home, find a cute black dress, add a cigarette holder (or some form of improvisation), put your hair in an updo and you’re ready to paint the town red as the charming Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. You could turn this look around easily by blow drying your hair back and adding baby powder to one side for a Cruella Deville that will send all the puppies in a 10K radius running for their lives!

5. Hoop Earrings

Soda, the official drink of all landlocked pirates.

Get a little wild when you work up a DIY Halloween costume thanks to the help of your favorite hoop earrings. With a simple pair of skinny jeans, peasant top and boots you can hunt for treasure, or candy, this holiday as a stylish pirate. Sure, this look can easily be added on to to make it look even more realistic, but your hoop earrings are going to be the key to your look!

6. Everything Goes

If you just can’t say no to Halloween costume jewelry then just throw it all on! Try to come up with something to use as a crystal ball, grab a bohemian skirt and wrap a scarf around your head. Yep, you guessed it, you’re going to be a fortune teller. This DIY Halloween costume is incredibly simple and will allow you to pull out the big earrings, fun necklaces, bangle bracelets and cocktail rings galore. The more you have, the more you can flaunt so don’t hold back!!

This year your friends will definitely be impressed by the many Halloween costume ideas you have to play with. So, don’t let a last minute party invite or long day at the office turn you off of a little celebration. Instead, embrace your love for jewelry and build a costume around your favorite pieces!
